Acne problems in adults

Nowadays, adults with acne are increasingly getting to dermatologists. Treatment of this skin disease is not easy, but thanks to modern drugs and dermatological procedures you can get rid of bothersome pimples and scars that remain after them.

Acne is a problem, as it turns out, not only for teenagers, but also for adults. Everyone who has struggled with pimples, pimples and blackheads knows that although it's easy to win a fight with them, it's hard to win a war. However, this is really possible - the latest therapies are effective.
Acne is not only an aesthetic defect, it is a skin disease, like others - so it should be treated by a specialist. You should refer your first steps to a dermatologist.

Stages of acne

Three stages of acne development Skin lesions can take different forms depending on the severity of the disease. Blackheads are the first stage of acne. They look like whitish or black spots (they are commonly called blackheads). They appear not only on the face, but also on the shoulders, neckline or back, i.e. in places where the most sebaceous glands are located. Papules and pustules are a moderate form of acne. On the skin, convex reddish lesions can be seen, which testify to the development of inflammation around the sebaceous glands. Sine-red bumps inside, filled with pus - in this stage of the disease, the infection covers the deeper layers of the skin, and deep cysts leave permanent scars.

Acne treatment at the dermatologist - ointments, antibiotics and vitamin A.

If you want to get rid of acne once and for all, contact a dermatologist as soon as possible. This applies especially to those people who do not have home care treatments and new blackheads or pimples are still appearing. When starting therapy, be patient. You can wait for months for success, but don't be discouraged by your first setbacks.

Acne in adults - what are the causes?

Acne in adults is difficult to treat because it is difficult to clearly determine the reasons for its occurrence. It is caused by much more complex factors than in the case of the juvenile variety. In adolescents, eczema or excessive greasy skin result from transient and completely normal hormonal changes. In people after puberty, this disease has at least several sources. First of all, the causes of acne in adults can be seen in genetic conditions. Some of us, by nature, do not have to make much effort to enjoy smooth skin, while others struggle with imperfections all their lives.

Factors

The factors causing acne in adults must also include hormonal fluctuations, which may result from diseases of internal organs (including ovaries). Then it is necessary to perform specialist examinations under the care of not only a dermatologist, but also, for example, a gynaecologist. Nowadays, endocrine disruptions are increasingly the result of living under constant stress. Emotional anxiety causes increased production of cortisol, i.e. the so-called stress hormone. Under its influence, sebaceous glands secrete more and more sebum, which clogs the skin pores and is an excellent environment for bacterial growth. Thus, increased acne attacks in adults can occur in difficult and stressful moments.

ACNE IN ADULTS - WHY IS IT ARISING?

More and more adults are struggling with acne lesions, even if they had no complexion before. While blemishes in adolescence are still acceptable by society, so at the sight of an adult struggling with this problem comes to one conclusion - he improperly cares about his appearance or does not observe the rules of hygiene. It is estimated that up to 60% of adult women now suffer from acne. Some of them have not been able to win with him since his youth, and some are only now experiencing the first breakouts in life.

How to cure acne in adults?

Over the past few years, the problem of acne in adults has grown almost to the rank of an epidemic. It is estimated that this disease affects up to 50 million Americans a year! In Poland, this is much less, but the problem is escalating at an equally fast pace. Often, skin changes do not go away even despite a healthy lifestyle, a radical change in diet or special care.

Spironolactone

Scientists have found a way to treat acne in adults

It is spironolactone - a substance that is supposed to solve the problem of acne in adults once and for all. The discovery was made by two independent, recognised dermatologists, who came across this component in various studies, almost at the same time. Unlike other substances used in acne therapies, spironolactone is not used point wise, only orally. Until now, it has been used mainly as a medicine for mild hypertension and water retention. Specialists noticed, however, that patients taking spironolactone for these symptoms had one beneficial side effect: a significant improvement in the complexion that was associated with fewer pimples.
